Everyone has their share of tough management at work. Lisa Xing tells you how to handle the stress. At some point in our lives, it’s inevitable that we’ll have to deal with an employer who is less than stellar. Maybe it’s someone who lacks trust in you to complete your job, maybe it’s someone who overlooks your abilities or maybe they are just plain unpleasant. Whatever the case may be, it may seem impossible to deal with something like this. That’s not true. It’s all about being proactive in getting what you want out of a situation. Attitude The first thing to know about dealing with a tough boss situation is to pay attention to your attitude. Always look to yourself first and see if there is anything you could be doing better in order to improve relations with your boss. If you are vying to be project leader, see if you have been showing leadership qualities. Are you proving you’re a team member as well as a leader? Small things mean a lot to bosses, especially after a while. Have a positive attitude, encourage your peers in their problems and tasks, and through this, your boss will hopefully pick up that you’re a great asset to the team. |
