Love shopping, but worried about the state of your bank account? Lua Farnoush shares some hints for maximizing your fashion dollars. Unless you’re one of the lucky few who have the luxury of being able to buy anything your heart desires without ever having the thought of your depleting bank funds cross your mind, you’re always keeping your eye out for ways to look your best without having to drop celebrity-paralleled wads of cash to do so. This article is for all the normal-class fashionistas out there, working hard for their money, but still trying to treat themselves right. Here are a few ways to stay stylish without causing too much abuse to your debit card (read: weapon) of choice.Set a Budget Before you take your first step into a store, take a moment (maybe even a long one while you sip on a yummy latte at Starbucks) to mull over any upcoming financial duties you may have. Consider the state of your bank account at the moment. Think of the items you are specifically looking for, if any, then set an appropriate spending limit that is both feasible and will get you the items you want, as well as any additional goodies you might come across. Shop Around There are tons of stores that sell equally great clothes that span a wide variety of styles and tastes, but some won’t cost you the rock star prices of others. I recently found a gorgeous pair of navy blue stack heel shoes at Nine West which were to die for, but that one pair alone would have exceeded my budget for the day, so I kept looking until I found an even cuter pair at H&M (these ones in patent) for a price tag that was 80 per cent lower! Either way, don’t get stuck on one item just because you like it, because I guarantee you’ll find something just as nice, if not nicer, for a steal of a price if you just keep your eyes open. |
