Arenal VolcanoThis volcano will take your breathe away! At night, Arenal, an active volcano that spews lava into the sky, impresses even the most road-weary traveller. Be sure to bring your camera for stunning pictures you’ll want to blow up and hang on your wall. While in the area you can take in the sight of the volcano from town while enjoying your lunch or hire a guide and go for a hike to the summit. Be sure to check local conditions before you decide to hike up Arenal as it is an active volcano and erupts often. Ranking among the top ten most active volcanoes in the world, you’re in for a show! Nearby is Lake Arenal, a great place for kicking back next to the water or to go fishing, windsurfing or any one of other countless activities. If you’re ready for some serious relaxation, the hot springs nearby are divine if you can stand the sulphuric smell. Tortuguero National Park Rent a canoe or kayak and explore this park named for the turtles that nest in the sands. Tortuguero National Park is a place for water lovers. A series of fresh water canals and lagoons and creeks will keep you busy for hours, maybe even days. Once you’re done exploring the waterways, head to the beach to observe the turtles nesting in the sands. Hire a guide for a night walk through the beaches to observe hundreds of turtles (green sea, leatherback and hawksbill) laying their eggs. If you’re really lucky, you might even see the baby turtles emerge from the sand and make their way to the water! ___________________________________ beauty and adventure For nature lovers and people who love to have a high octane vacation mixed with plenty of beaches for those days when you’d rather sleep in the sun, Costa Rica has it all. Whether you aim to surf for a week or would rather travel across the country in search of the big sites, Costa Rica will cater to all styles of travel. |
